Very old Japanese excavated earthenware/Wabisabi vase/Small Jar

About the Item

This is earthenware excavated in Japan. It has a very beautiful shape and is well balanced. It is baked at a low temperature of around 800 degrees. Most pottery is brown or has a brownish finish, but this pottery has a whitish finish overall. They may have used clay with a low iron content. Also, depending on how the flame hits it, some parts may become charred and black. This earthenware has a very beautiful contrast of black and white. The soft texture of the surface is probably due to the fact that it was excavated in a river. The surface becomes smooth due to years of water flow and abrasion of fine particles. Although it is small, it has a presence. This vase was made during the Yayoi period, and is thought to have been made in the latter half of that period, but it is certainly from before the 9th century. The shape of earthenware from this period varies considerably in terms of the beauty of the finished product, with some having a well-shaped shape and others being slightly distorted. However, in this case, the curve is beautiful and symmetrical. Originally, it may have been a taller pottery with a slightly longer tip. However, the tip is missing. Also, since a similar item was published in an art book, I have included a photo of it as a reference. There are no repairs needed, but there are two cracks. But don't worry about it breaking. Most of the remains are in this condition when they are excavated. Decorating with small flowers will create a very nice atmosphere. This is an attractive item. it's recommended.
