About the Item

Vessel 015 by Studio Andrea Tsang Dimensions: W 20 x H 30 cm. Materials: Dark-colored stoneware with beige matte finish, partly glazed. It began with a simple coffee cup. A rounded shape, made by hand and designed to fit perfectly into yours. It evolved into finding the essence of good coffee cup – function and aesthetic working in tandem. As the question grew more complex, the answers also did, and soon the collection came to include more use-objects, but also decorative pieces. Andrea found meaning in the process, it took her to a place without stress, somewhere where she could better hear her creative inner voice. Soon Studio ANDREA TSANG was born, and through it she expresses that true essence – the sum of her inspiration, experiences and creativity. Studio ANDREA TSANG is Andrea Tsang's answer to a question that has been with her since she left art school. Through over a decade of work as a fashion designer and consultant, this question remained under the surface, not fading but growing more important. At the onset of the pandemic, she went in search of the answer. Andrea, the fashion designer turned-ceramicist behind Studio ANDREA TSANG, became tired of the fashion industry grind and decided to leave it all behind to pursue something more meaningful to her—getting her hands dirty with the most basic of materials, clay. She left Hong Kong and Shanghai behind for the serenity of Scandinavia, and since 2021, she has been working out of her Stockholm studio, exploring timeless shapes and designs inspired by the East Asian pottery tradition and the functionalist Scandinavian design philosophy. In designing and creating with her own two hands, from raw clay to finished items, Andrea found the answer to her question.
