This moon jar was thrown in two pieces on the wheel with a light brown stoneware. The pieces are scored, slipped, combined and then finished being shaped. After drying to a leather hard the piece is further refined through trimming and then several slips are organically applied and layered. Once fully dried it was bisque fired, clear glazed and then fired one last time over two thousand degrees in a reduction gas kiln. The foot is then sanded on the bottom until smooth.
A truly unique piece handmade by Jason Fox in Los Angeles that can be used functionally as a vase or as an accent piece for any modern decor.
