Fritz van Daalen information: Fritz van Daalen ran a retail shop for arts and crafts in Schwäbisch Gmünd. In 1938 the ceramics workshop "van Daalen ceramics" was set up, which produced sculptures, wall reliefs and bowls. In 1943 production had to be stopped due to the war. The shop reopened in 1945 and ceramic production was resumed in 1946. The product range included artistic ceramics and pottery. Between 1950 and 1951, a company was set up in Aalen and production was relocated there. The business in Schwäbisch Gmünd was given up. Although only briefly employed (1952-1953), the shapes and decors designed by Friedrich Düpmann during this period were production-defining until the end of the 1950s. From the mid-1950s, Fritz Helmut van Daalen's son was responsible for the designs and decors. As long as a design could be sold, it was also produced, as soon as demand came to a standstill, the corresponding form was destroyed. In 1973 production was stopped because no suitable skilled workers could be found. The remaining forms and the company name were taken over by Carstens.
