About the Item

Postmodern Haeger vide poche catchall. Bold rounded edges make this a standout piece, mauve color is versatile and pairs nicely with many other colors. Perfect for a coffee table, dresser or entryway. Marked Haeger USA on bottom, pattern number 2176, see last photo. In very good vintage condition, some minor scuffs and scratches. Very minor crazing. No cracks, small chip on underside edge, not visible when piece is right side up, see last photo. Haeger Potteries was a family business, managed by four successive generations, which began in 1871 when German-born David H. Haeger purchased an existing brickyard in East Dundee, Illinois. Edmund Haeger, the son of founder David H. Haeger, transitioned to creating art pottery in 1914 with the help of the talented Martin Stangl, formerly with Fulper Pottery. The company’s history proved itself adaptable; the classic Arts and Crafts designs of Early Haeger developed into Art Deco in the 1920s, before dabbling in “Old World” motifs and Pueblo Indian art methodologies. Perhaps the best and most recognizable period was the Royal Haeger, which started in 1938 and brought the company to international fame for decades to come.
