18th-cebtury Bow Porcelain Chinoiserie Tankard

About the Item

Bow porcelain Chinoiserie tankard, Bow, London, 1760-1765. The unusually painted polychrome Bow porcelain tankard depicts Chinoiserie figures sitting around a low table with a porcelain vase with flowers in the center and a large famille rose bird perched on a branch. The images show each side of the tankard. Dimensions: 6 inches high x 4 1/4 inch diameter. Reference: Made in New Canton: Bow Porcelain From The Collection of The London Borough of Newham, Anton, Gabszewicz, Page 61, #50 for a Famille Rose Baluster Cream-Jug circa 1765 with Chinese figure before a tree. The treatment of the tree with brown marking on the branches is extremely similar as is the colouration of the Chinese figure. A very similar decoration on a mug by Bow at The Victoria & Albert Museum, Museum.
