Abercrombie and Fitch, New York. Made in England. DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1890-1900. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Sterling Silver. CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Three small dents on the body. DIMENSIONS H 6.75 in. W 4.25 in. D .75 in. HISTORY Abercrombie & Fitch began as a high-end sporting goods retailer in 1892, founded by David Abercrombie in Manhattan. The company expanded in the early 20th century with Ezra Fitch becoming a co-owner in 1900. After facing financial difficulties, Abercrombie & Fitch was purchased by Les Wexner in 1988 and underwent a significant transformation under Mike Jeffries, shifting its focus to a youthful, fashion-forward brand. James Dixon and Sons were founded in Sheffield, England in 1806 and were one of the major British manufacturers of the Industrial Revolution, helping to give the city its global reputation for manufacturing excellence.
