About the Item

Antique early 20th Century Edwardian solid silver and leather 'bombard' jug, crafted from wet leather shaped in a mold and stitched to form the vessel and handle, with a solid silver rim mounted on top. Created by Frederick James Ross, a skilled craftsman from Winchester, this jug reflects the high standards of the late 19th-century Arts & Crafts movement. Ross’s workshop was known for producing high-quality reproductions of medieval items, including these unique bombard jugs, which were completed with silver rims crafted in their own silver workshop. Hallmarked English solid silver (925 standard), Year 1906, (o), Makers mark FJR (Frederick James Ross). CONDITION In Great Condition - Wear expected with age. Please refer to photographs.
