Whiting, sterling silver centerpiece stand from the late 19th century with exquisite engravings at the top, a reticulated rim as well as highly decorative, ornamental motifs adorning the stem and 3 feet. It measures 10'' in diameter by 8 7/8'' in height, weighs 23.1 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks as shown. Originally in Massachusetts, Whiting Manufacturing Company relocated to New York in 1875. The company was purchased by Gorham in 1924 and the production transferred to Providence, Rhode Island.
