Wonderful flared bowl gold whit it's plate in pendant by the prestigious Maison Saint Louis "Thistle collection". Both signed It could be sel separately This mouth blown, handcut and incised bowl is heavily encrusted with gold after incising, then re-fired so the gold will not wear. Saint Louis gold thistle has been in continuous production since 1913 from the inspiration of the Chardon service created in 1909 and has graced many formal tables in Europe and the world In 1913, the name Anglicized to become Thistle, the service incorporates its heritage through its name and the plant motif of its engraved frieze decorated in fine gold. This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important European private collection Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts. Emblem of the city of Nancy in France, the chardon (French for “Thistle”) was the original inspiration behind a first service created in 1908. Since then, it sparkles nobly on the greatest tables. Venitian-style stripes, bevel cuts and a decoration made from 24-carat gold adorn its parison. Thistle: more than 100 years-old and as sharp as ever. The thistle was the inspiration for the design of this service, created for the 1909 Nancy exhibition, at the height of Art Nouveau. Chardon, in reference to Nancy's emblem, was presented with the city's motto: "Qui s'y frotte s'y pique" ("He who rubs it, stings it"). Later, as a result of the Entente Cordiale, Chardon became Thistle and shone on the finest tables. Thistle has been in existence for 110 years. This item was used for display only in a glass case so is in very good condition. Gorgeous vintage "Thistle Gold" crystal footed bowl by Saint-Louis , circa 1980s. Inspired by a thistle, this exquisitely crafted and meticulously detailed service was created for the 1909 Exposition de Nancy, the apex of the Art Nouveau movement. Balancing crisp styling with richness of design, the clarity of crystal with the warmth of gold, this pattern is a true classic. The bowl is mouth blown and hand-cut in France and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks;. Founded in 1767–with roots going back almost 200 years earlier–the Cristallerie Royale de Saint-Louis has shaped the very history of glasswork, and created fine crystal for generation after generation of kings and queens. Today, Saint-Louis forges a path between heritage and innovation, remaining strenuously committed to preserving the methods it’s perfected over centuries of high-level craftsmanship, while at the same time staying on the cutting edge of modern crystal techniques and design.
