Exceptional and important clear lead crystal centerpiece; the shape, very slender and aesthetically bold, full of curves and rounded ends fascinates us with its unparalleled and elegant plasticity and lightness; the Master craftsmen were able to make the massive block of crystal, delicate almost vaporous, they transformed the crystal by pulling it by twisting, pincer working and shaping it by hand, thus creating an aesthetically extraordinary and compelling object. The centerpiece was made between 1950 and 1955 in a craft workshop in the small town of Vannes-le-Chatel located in the department of Meurthe and Moselle in the Grand Est. (France) region, an area very famous for glass production; many local artisans collaborated with the Vannes Cristalleries and often, as in our case, were inspired for their precious creations, by the models of the Crystalworks itself. History traces the founding of Vannes Cristalleries to about 1765, under aristocratic patronage, and it immediately became one of the most important glass manufacturers in France producing glass tableware, and then diversifying into ornamental works in 1930. In 1963 they began producing decorative lead crystal glass with the peak of their production during 1960-1970. The Vannes Cristalleries became the Compagnie Française du Cristal (CFC) then integrated Daum under the name CFC Daum. In about 1970 ART Vannes ceased production and Cristal de Sevres was born, and only since 1980 have they produced under the Daum brand. Regardless of the different signatures, Vannes-le-Châtel glass and crystal masterpieces are part of French decorative history and have influenced all production in the Vannes-le-Chatel area. The centerpiece is in good condition, only under the base are small chips, so small that they cannot be photographed. Measures width cm.54, depth cm.15, height cm.29. For all our shipments we use special packing materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
