Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Blue Bowl, Gustavsberg, Sweden, 1963

About the Item

Berndt Friberg, Stoneware Bowl with blue haresfur glaze, Gustavsberg, Sweden 1963 Impressed "Friberg" "G (hand) " Incised "E" Blue glaze is applied over the entire surface, and then a double layer of brown glaze is applied over the top of the blue glaze, blending with each other and flowing beautifully throughout. The color of the glaze is a bright blue, slightly more sky blue than the standard lapis lazuli color. The glaze has a fine hairline and flows down beautifully from the mouth rim to the base. The shape of the bowl is a soft triangular one when viewed from above, with a slightly deep prospect and a good size bowl with a good handle. There is a spot where the white glaze has swelled on the outside. In good condition. The vessel has been examined by an expert by UV light and visual inspection to ensure that there are no repairs and that it is not twice kiln fired.
