About the Item
A fine Lowerdown Pottery stoneware studio pottery dish hand decorated with a floral design by renowned potter David Leach (British, 1911-2005) dating from around 1970. The hand crafted dish is thickly potted standing on a flat unglazed rounded base with the edges formed to create a square shaped dish with a flat cut top edge. The dish has a matt salt glazed outer edge and is decorated internally with tenmoku over light stone grey colored glazes with a hand applied floral design in outline to the inside base. The dish has an impressed personal seal mark to the base.
Provenance: from the collection of a private gentleman and originating from the UK art market.
In good overall condition with a tiny natural firing blown chip to the outer top edge.
