About the Item

Very rare goldscheider Vienna figurine of the 1920s The figure shows the dancer Niddy Impekoven (1904-2002) in her dance 'Erna Pinner Doll', moment musical, music: Franz Schubert, world premiere in Frankfurt/Main 1918. A contemporary photograph by Anny Eberth (Berlin) served as a template for this model. A lute was added that stands on the floor/plinth and provides additional stability for the figure. Erna Pinner (1890-1987) was an artist and publicist. The formerly well-known 'Pinner Dolls' had inspired famous dancers and found their way into productions of the German Theater, the Frankfurt Theater and in films by Asta Nielsen. Here the roughly life-size draft of the 'Pierrot' doll served as the template for Niddy Impekoven's dance implementation. The figure is based on a faceted, black round base with a flower garland. Designed by Josef Lorenzl (1892 - 1950), one of the most important designers who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory in the period of 1920 - 1940.
