About the Item
Hand-Painted Talavera Pottery Vase by Mave, Spain, Mid-20th Century
Description:
A vibrant hand-painted Spanish Talavera pottery vase, attributed to the Mave workshop and signed “Talavera Mave S.R.” to the underside. Made circa 1960s–1970s, this decorative piece features a charming naturalistic scene with a bird in flight amid foliage, all painted in traditional hues of cobalt blue, yellow, green, and ochre on a creamy ground.
The neck is flared with a floral motif, and a stylised acanthus scroll band encircles the shoulder, evoking classical Talavera forms. The piece reflects the craftsmanship and regional charm associated with Spanish majolica.
