Jean Luce, Art Deco Black Vase w/ Golden Bands, Glazed Stoneware, France, c 1928
About the Item
Known for his long career spanning a range of 20th Century movements, Jean Luce's Machine Age vase is ringed by gold bands, giving the impression that the vase has been mechanically sliced. Or perhaps, it evokes the famed character Bibendum, aka "Michelin Man", with a stack of tires encircling the underlying, uniformly patterned black surface that subtly gives the appearance of tire treads.
