About the Item

Celebrating the reign of Queen Wilhelmina and the Dutch laborer, this rare tile shows a Dutch miner surrounded by signs of Dutch industry. America and much of the Western world idealized workers in industry and agriculture in the 1930s. The tile is marked "Sphinx" on the reverse.
