Ruthanne Tudball Soda Glazed Studio Pottery Yunomi Drinking Vessel
About the Item
A very stylish studio pottery soda glazed Yunomi with ribbed patterning by renowned potter Ruthanne Tudball (British, b.1948) dating from the 20th century. The hand-built stoneware drinking vessel stands in a narrow rounded foot with a cylindrical shaped body with a slightly pinched top edge and with ribbed designs to the body. The Yunomi is decorated with slip and is fired with sodium vapour glazing adding richness of colour and emphasizing the marks and rhythms of making. In tones of orange and grey with yellow streaked glazes the Yunomi has an impressed makers seal mark to the foot rim.
This stylish piece came as part of a large private collection of studio pottery, carefully selected and from renowned makers.
