About the Item

Enhance a dining table or sideboard with this elegant six-bottle cruet set, made by Reed & Barton, circa 1880. The silver-plated rotating stand rests on a circular pedestal base and is richly decorated with neoclassical motifs, including medallion profiles of helmeted figures framed by scrolling designs. The triangular handle provides a graceful silhouette and allows the frame to easily be carried for service. The set includes six crystal vessels, each etched with delicate floral and foliate motifs: two bottles with stoppers for oil and vinegar, three shakers with pierced silver lids for salt and pepper or other spices, and one lidded vessel with a hinged top and slot for a spoon, likely for sugar. Each bottle fits securely into its holder, and the stand rotates smoothly, remaining in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Founded in 1824 in Taunton, Massachusetts, Reed & Barton became one of America’s premier silver manufacturers, celebrated for their finely detailed silver and silver-plated wares. Their pieces, often reflecting popular 19th-century neoclassical and revival styles, were known for exceptional craftsmanship and even chosen for use at the White House. Today, Reed & Barton creations remain highly collectible for their quality and design heritage. Measures: 8" Diameter x 16.5" H
