Antique Bohemian Enameled Cranberry Glass Bowl Centerpiece, 19th Century

About the Item

This antique sugar bowl centerpiece, crafted in cranberry glass and dating to circa 1850, is a rare and exquisite example of Bohemian glasswork from the mid-19th century Biedermeier period. The bowl features an elegant two-tone design, combining transparent crystal with rich cranberry-colored glass, showcasing the high level of craftsmanship for which Bohemian glassmakers were renowned. The eight-sided body is cut and adorned with circular gilded panels, each intricately hand-painted with silver enamel floral motifs. Additional gold and silver enamel decorations are applied beneath the panels and onto the base of the bowl, enhancing its luxurious appearance. The fine detailing and careful balance of color and decoration reflect the artistic innovation of the era. The bowl stands on a clear, scalloped glass foot with a flared base. The transparent glass is expertly cut in a star pattern on the bottom, a signature of the skill and precision of 19th-century Bohemian glassmakers. This centerpiece, with its hand-work is a superb representation of Bohemian artistry and finest glassmaking techniques of the period.
