About the Item

A unique and beautiful etched/sand blasted firescreen by the noted artist Dennis Abbe who founded the New York Art Deco Society, This is a rare probably specially commissioned piece as the artist is generally known for his installations. A brief biography of this noted artist follows;

Abbe was a protege of Erte. Abbe founded the Art Deco Society of New York and was influential in the Art Deco scene in Miami. His career extended from the 1960s until his sudden death in 1995. His works are held in dozens of private collections around the world, and numerous musuems including The White House in Washington DC. An event entitled "Celebration of the Life of Dennis Abbé , Fine Artist" was held at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in March of 1996. A partial list of Abbe's commercial commissions includes:
