Early 20th century Set of 6 Henri Maire Champagne Glasses, 1900s

About the Item

Set of 6 champagne glasses called "trinquettes" or "cul sec". At their base, there is the stamp of "Henri Maire", famous French winemaker (born July 16, 1917 and died November 28, 2003,) who gave a strong identity to the Jura vineyard. Diamond-pointed decoration. 20th century period. As they cannot be placed down, the glasses must be emptied of their contents, forcing their user to drink all of the liquid. Legend has said that the first champagne glass was molded on the breast of Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France and wife of Louis XVI. Others claim that it was molded on the breast of the Marquise de Pompadour (1721-1764) who was the favorite mistress of Louis XV. As for the flute, it appeared much later. Several glasses are available. 30 in total. Very good condition.
