About the Item
The Palazzo Glasses are crystal vessels engraved with the façades of Venice’s most iconic palazzos. The idea was born during a trip to Morocco, when Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga, wandering through the labyrinthine souks of Marrakech, was served tea in a traditional glass. He noticed how it was adorned with the façade of a palace, and in that moment — surrounded by intoxicating scents and holding a miniature vision of grandeur — the concept for the Palazzo series took shape.
With the artistry of a Muranese Master Engraver, a collection of six glasses was created, each bearing the engraving of a Venetian landmark: Palazzo Ariani, Palazzo Papadopoli, Palazzo Ducale, Ca’ d’Oro, Palazzo Spinelli, and Palazzo Grimani.
Faithful to Venetian tradition, the glasses are exclusively crafted in Murano. Every piece is blown by master glassmakers in the island’s historic furnaces. Giberto personally contributes with his watercolours, refining shapes and details with the artisans until the desired form emerges. Only then does engraving complete the vision.
The Palazzo glasses embody this meticulous process of high craftsmanship. Perfect for serving drinks, they are equally at home as decorative vases or objets d’art. Today, they are Giberto’s signature creation — and his most celebrated best seller.
