A Signed Jorg Zimmerman Glass Sculpture

About the Item

Heading : Jorg Zimmerman Studio Glass Sculpture Date : c1975 Origin : Germany. Signed on the base by the artist Decoration : Abstract Size : Width 27cm, height 19cm Condition : Exemplary Restoration : None Weight : 3298 grams Inspired by the structure of biological forms, Zimmerman’s studio glass artworks and made using wire mesh. This results in complex cell like internal structures and corresponding surface patterns. There is a dichotomy in allowing the molten glass to flow naturally whilst partially controlling the movement by blowind through the wire mesh. The reselts accentuarte the nature of the medium and enable the observed to look inside the structure. This vibrant gourd or urchin shaped example is typical of his work, with its internal network of glass threads and the resultant cells that are mirrored on the surface. Trained at the College of Applied Art in Schwabisch, Germany from 1956 to 1967 Zimmerman attained his masters in 1967. The freelance artist and designer was appointed head of department at Stuttgart Art Academy in 1976. Multi international award winner and exhibitor his works are to be found in multiple studio glass books and exhibition catalogues and both museums and private collections around the globe. This is simply creative genius expressing themselves.
