About the Item
A large and heavy Hobnail Milk Glass Pitcher with an Ice Lip, Fenton Art Glass, circa 1950s.
The Fenton Art Glass Company was founded in 1905 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, by brothers Frank and John Fenton. The manufacturer introduced the “Hobnail” pattern in 1939. “Hobnail” features raised bumps in a uniform surface pattern, named for its resemblance to the soles of hobnail boots. The hobnail glass pattern, characterized by small, rounded raised knobs, became a highly successful product line, particularly the milk glass version introduced in 1950.
