Ray Finch Winchcombe Studio Pottery Metallic Glazed Double Cream Jug

About the Item

An unusual and exceptional metallic glazed studio pottery jug by Ray Finch and made at Winchcombe around 1981. The stoneware jug was gifted by Ray Finch to the previous owner on 5th August 1981 and was described as a ‘double cream’ jug and is a wonderful example of his finest work. The stoneware jug is eight sided and of angled square form with narrow panels forming the angled corners. The jug stands on a square shaped base decorated in grey glazes with a wide bulbous body and an angled shoulder and short straight raised rim with a raised formed spout and with a flat top handle applied to the side. The jug is decorated in metallic glazes over a grey ground running slightly into the body which has a grey glazed finish. The jug is not marked. Provenance: Gifted to Ann Jabhart by Ray Finch in 1981 and acquired from the UK Art Market. In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
