Winchcombe Studio Pottery Tenmoku Glazed Jug
About the Item
A fine tenmoku glazed studio pottery jug probably by Ray Finch and made at the acclaimed Winchcombe Pottery in Gloucestershire, England in the latter 20th century. The hand thrown jug is of round bulbous shape standing on a flat narrow round unglazed base, the unglazed area extending up the lower part of the body. The jug has a wide funnel shaped top with a slightly widened rim and large pinched pouring spout with a shaped strap handle applied to the side. The jug is decorated in dark tenmoku glazes over a brown ground with some fine scattered yellow speckling within the glaze. The jug has an impressed Winchcombe Pottery mark to the lower rim.
Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market.
In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
