1925 Hand Painted Gold and Floral Platter Moritz Zdekaur Austrian Mildred Icke

About the Item

Antique 1925 Hand-Painted Porcelain Platter by Moritz Zdekauer Austria – Signed by Mildred C. Icke A stunning example of early 20th-century decorative porcelain, this hand-painted porcelain serving platter was created on New Year’s Day, 1925 and remains a beautifully preserved celebration of artistry and craftsmanship. Measuring an elegant 19 inches long by 6.25 inches wide, the piece is signed and dated by the artist, Mildred C. Icke, whose delicate brushwork and refined use of color continue to bloom vividly a century later. Produced by Moritz Zdekauer (also known as MZ Austria), one of the premier porcelain manufacturers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this fine porcelain platter features a gracefully curved form, gently upturned handles accented in hand-applied gold, and an exquisite floral motif painted in soft pinks, greens, and lavenders. The gold detailing remains intact with only minor wear at the handles—expected and gentle signs of age that add to its vintage charm. The base bears the green Moritz Zdekauer Austria hallmark, used in the early 20th century, affirming the authenticity and origin of this piece. The platter is in near excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and only light wear to the base from display or service over the past 100 years. Originally designed for use as a porcelain cake tray or serving platter, this piece would have graced formal tables during the golden era of European porcelain production. Today, it makes a striking table centerpiece, vanity tray, or decorative collector’s piece for any setting that appreciates historical elegance. Signed and dated January 1, 1925, this is more than a piece of fine porcelain—it’s a lasting work of art that captures a single moment in time with timeless grace.
