About the Item

Barr, Flight & Barr Worcester Porcelain Serving Dish Famille Rose Taste, Circa 1804-13 A fine oval serving dish produced by the esteemed Barr, Flight & Barr factory. This piece was expertly crafted as a replacement for an earlier Chinese Export porcelain service from the 1760s. The decoration faithfully replicates the original Chinese design, featuring a classic spearhead border in iron-red and gold, with a simple gilt line at the rim. The center is beautifully hand-painted with scattered floral sprays, prominently featuring the peonies characteristic of the famille rose palette. The quality of the execution is a testament to the Worcester factory's mastery in emulating the most sought-after porcelain of the era. Marks: The base bears the impressed factory mark of a crown over "BFB". A scratch-incised "12" indicates the size. Dimensions: 12 inches wide x 9 inches deep (30.48cm wide x 22.86cm). Note: A rare pair of large 20-inch dishes from this service is also available. (Ref: NY10855-krrx)
