About the Item

This is a good Mason's ironstone Serving Dish or Platter hand painted in the Mixed Flowers pattern, from their earliest George IIIrd period, circa 1818. The piece is well potted with a rectangular shape, having shaped and moulded sides, all on a low foot. It is well hand painted in the recorded pattern called the: Mixed Flowers pattern, showing a selection of different English naturalistic flowers and leaves, including a pink rose, all within a gilded border, with an outer light green / turquoise color, finished with a hand gilded outer rim. The pattern is hand enamelled, over-glaze in bold colors of burnt orange, yellow, grey, purple, pink and green, all in various shades, over an under-glaze printed outline, with additional gold gilded detail. With this pattern, the species and arrangement of flowers differs from dish to dish, making each piece unique. This pattern is fully illustrated in Masons pattern book, page 39, published by The Masons Collectors' Club The piece is fully marked to the base with a Mason's single line impressed mark stating: Masons Patent ironstone China, which dates this piece to circa 1818. Overall a very decorative Serving Dish / Platter in a very decorative, free flowing, hand painted pattern.
