Guerin &Co Limoges France Dessert Service for 10, Bone China

About the Item

et of 10 dessert plates, 10 sauce/fruit bowls, 2 cake plates, compote, and syrup pitcher by Guerin &Co was made of fine, semi-transparent bone china in Limoges, France. The set is hand decorated in Victorian style with ornamental blue and brown thistle flowers motifs on white background and gold trim on cake plates and syrup pitcher handles. The pieces are marked with green underglaze factory marks "Limoges W.G.&Co France" that date back to 1891-1900 and red decorator overglaze marks "Wm. Guerin &Co Limoges France" that date back to 1891-1932. The compote measures 2.15" in diameter at the base, 2.15" in diameter at the rim, and 5" high; the dessert plates measure 7.25" in diameter and 0.68" high, the bowls - 4.7" in diameter and 0.7" high, the cake plates - 9" in diameter and 10" across the handles, and the pitcher - 6.25" high with 3" diameter opening. The set is in excellent antique condition with light wear consistent with age. A few pieces in the set have minor glaze irregularities mostly on the bottom sides that are hardly noticeable, consistent with hand-decorating process, and do not detract from the overall quality of the set.
