Large Meissen Platter with Fabulous Painting of a Bouquet of Flowers and Insects

About the Item

Large Meissen platter in the Neu Brandenstein pattern with a large beautifully painted bouquet of flowers in the center surrounded by smaller flowers and insects with a gilt rim. Neu Brandenstein is a wonderful pattern because the Meissen artists paint different museum quality flower bouquets on each of the pieces in the service. I am always amazed when I look at the paintings how beautiful and different each of the paintings are. This is a fabulous example of the superb floral paintings that the Meissen porcelain artists painted in the 19th century. This platter is large enough to serve any entree. It is a beautiful addition to any table setting. It can also be used as a striking wall or mantle decoration. The platter is 19 inches long by 14 inches deep. It was made circa 1870s-1880s. Price-$1800.00.
