They are decorated in the neoclassical "Greek" pattern with classical figures and mythological scenes based on ancient Greek and Roman art.
The dramatic pattern shows a scene from Olympic history.
At the center, Cynisca wins the four-horse chariot race at the Greek Olympic Games in 392 BC.
She became the first woman to win at the Olympics.**
They are large, measuring 20" x 15.5" x 1.75" deep
Each rectangular platter is printed in blue with leaf and berry ground, radiating medallions, and urns containing classical scenes.
This was the first multi-scene pattern introduced at the Spode factory.
Dimensions: 20" x 15.5" 1.75" deep

This is an exceptionally large English mid-19th century Victorian Ironstone Platter decorated in a beautifully detailed Japanese Imari pattern. The enameling is sharp with deep coloration and the overlaid gold is in very good original condition. The platter is marked "Stone China" on the reverse. The platter is in very good overall condition with normal patination and very minimal losses to the painted decoration. There is a bit of wear to the underside of the rim which does not detract from the value of the platter. Platers of this size are very uncommon and desirable. This piece could be installed as a work of art or even fitted with a custom table base...

This magnificent Victorian meat dish and cover was made by Frederick Elkington, considered to be the finest maker of silver plate. The oval-shaped dish is kept warm by its hot water jacket and has the traditional well-and-tree channels to allow the meat juices to drain and collect. The dome is beautifully hand-engraved and has a bead pattern border to match the base. It is rare to find an original pair of base and cover, and this is a particularly fine example.
