Rörstrand Coffee Service, circa 1943

About the Item

We present you this porcelain coffee service for 11-12 people (1 cup is missing), signed by a Swedish porcelain manufactory, Rörstrand. The type of signature indicates that this service was manufactured in the years 1943-1949. The service includes 26 pieces: 11 cups, 12 small plates, a pitcher, a sugar bowl, and a vessel for milk. Rörstrand manufactory had been founded in 1726, in the village of the same name (now a district of Stockholm). In 1914, Rörstrand company acquired Göteborgs Porslinsfabrik. In 1926, Rörstrand moved the manufactory near Göteborg, and the Stockholm manufactory was demolished. In 1936, the company moved to Lidköping, and since 1939 it has been the company’s headquarters. Today, Rörstrand is a part of the Iittalia company based in Höganäs (Sweden).
