Set of Two Plates "Grandi Maestri" by P. Fornasetti, 1967

About the Item

Set of two plates "Grandi Maestri" is an original decorative object realized by the Italian artist and designer Piero Fornasetti (Milan, 1909-1988) in 1967. Made by Fornasetti, Milan. The plates are realized in white porcelain with a black and white lithograph and with golden edge. Marked: Manufacturer's mark GRANDI MAESTRI. Ref.: Casadio/Fornasetti, Fornasetti, La Bottega Fantastica, Milan 2009, p. 624. All the plates are in excellent conditions. Elegant couple of plates depicting two characters of the past. Both the characters are great Italian musicians. The plates are very decorated and the edge is completely realized in gold with decorations depicting musical instruments. The work is very fine and there is a high quality of the design, as all the works realized in this period by Piero Fornasetti. This work has been designed and created by Piero Fornasetti (Milan, 1913-1988) in 1967. Fornasetti was an Italian eclectic designer, characterized by an unstoppable creative flair that made him one of the most prolific figures of the 21th century. This piece has been realized in 1955.  In 1952 Piero Fornasetti began work on what would later become his most famous and iconic series: "Tema e Variazioni". Starting from the portrait of a woman, he began a pictorial quest that was to accompany him throughout his life. In 2016, the first 100 illustrations from the series were collected in a completely handmade, prestigious, limited edition volume. Piero Fornasetti continued unceasingly in his process of artistic reflection. 1958 saw the creation of "Stanza metafisica". Piero succeeded in shaping the conceptual side of his approach, inaugurating in the 1970s the space that offered him a way of giving continuity to his work with other instruments.
