About the Item

Spinzi is a Milano based creative atelier specialised in furniture design as well as sourcing and trading relevant mid-century collectible design. Check out our storefront and website for a constantly updated selection! This is a rare serving tray in wood, made in Italy in the 1990s by a "Countess Ugolini" after original drawings by Futurist Italian painter Giacomo Balla. Eighty trays were made, in a limited edition authorised by Balla's daughters Luce and Elica, and very few have appeared for public sale, with number 5/80 notably selling at Wannenes Auctions in June 2015. The tray is visibly hand made and hand painted, and it's even possible to spot traces of the brushstrokes under the right light. It can be used as a proper serving tray, as shown in pictures, but it's of course a wonderful artwork to be showcased on its own. This piece is number 34/80 as certified by the signature underneath, clearly visible in pictures. It is preserved in very good conditions, and has not been touched, altered or restored in any way.
