About the Item
This set of cabinet plates were made by the renowned Minton factory of England in approximately 1900 for the Birks exclusive department store chain and done in a Victorian style. The plates are composed of bone china in a white ground with hand-painted species of fishes in their natural habitat, each signed by artist A. Holland. The central hand-painted artwork is accented with gilt banding with a Greek key motif, with finely executed foliage with raised beading.
