Meissen Figurine Group: The Apple Harvest Manufactory: Meissen Hallmarked: Blue Meissen Sword Mark with Pommels on Hilts Model Number D 94 Former's Number 48 Painter's Number 43 First quality Dating: made circa 1870 Material: porcelain, glossy finish, multicolored painted Technique: handmade porcelain Style: Rococo (made third quarter of 19th century) This figurine group was modelled by: Michel Victor Acier (1736-1799), circa 1772. The sculptor was born at Versailles / France. He had studied Art of Sculpture in Paris and was appointed as sculptor of Meissen Porcelain Manufactory then (1762). Acier created many models generally in style of Rococo and specially in Watteau style. Finally, the sculptor became Model Master of the Saxon King in year 1780, moving to Dresden then. Detailed description: Meissen Finest Gardener Group Of A Couple And A Girl Child Being Busy with Apple Harvest. The Gardener Figurines - man and woman as well as a girl clad in finest bucolic Rococo garments - gather around an apple tree: The girl is busy with apple harvest (she picks up the apples, putting them in a basket), while the man adoring his beloved woman looks at a pocket watch / the gardener woman has sat down holding flower blossoms in her apron as well as smelling a rose flower held in woman's right hand. A large basket with flowers is situated beside the woman's feet. - The APPLE HARVEST is based on rocky ground / the apple tree seems to grow out of rocks.
