Meissen most remarkable and huge animal figurine: Walking ice bear / most lifelike impression: It is a Gorgeous model, indeed! Manufactory: Meissen Hallmarked: Blue Meissen Sword Mark (underglazed) First quality Dating: made circa 1935-1940. Material: porcelain Technique: handmade porcelain / glossy finish, monochrome white & partially painted MARKS: At reverse side of animal's figurine - at one of paws - there is Meissen Sword Mark visible (deriving from first half of 20th century). MODEL NUMBER T 181 / FORMER'S NUMBER 141 / Remainders of painter's number existing Design: Otto JARL (1903) The sculptor was born in Sweden and had studied in Stockholm / Jarl was a student at Viennese Academy of Fine Arts as from the year 1881. He was active on behalf of Meissen manufactory in period 1903 - 1905, having created stunning models of animal figurines. - Jarl's Meissen designs of ice bears are much sought by Meissen collectors still nowadays.
