Detailed description:
Meissen Finest Group of a Shepherd's Couple / Allegory of hearing (Deriving from a series of five senses).
-- the Shepherd's Figurines - man and woman clad in finest bucolic Rococo garments - gather next to a small leafy tree.
° the woman having sat down holds a ring on which a bird has taken place
° the man holds a bagpipe by which a goat is making music
° finally, a little monkey sits on ground - in front of figurines - , playing a flute
It is obvious that these details are a reference to music and singing which are strongly connected to sense of hearing.
The figurine group is based on oblong high socle abundantly decorated with Rocaille Ornaments.
