Very Large Meissen Handle Vase With Bouquet Paintings & Gold, by Leuteritz, 20th

About the Item

Very large handled vase in baluster form in baroque style on mounted funnel-shaped stand with bead ring in relief, raised handles on the sides in the form of curled acanthus twigs, white background with cobalt blue background painting on the neck and foot, finest polychrome floral bouquet painting on the front and back, lush bright gilding. Designed by ERNST AUGUST LEUTERITZ (1818-1893): He studied at the academy in Dresden, was a sculptor and from 1849 to 1886 he held the position of head of design at the Meissen porcelain manufactory, and in 1882 he became professor. He worked on vessel shapes and figures from the 18th century and designed vases, centerpieces and candlesticks in the styles of Rococo and Classicism. Design of model D 153 circa 1860/63.
