Royal Worcester Rare Set Porcelain Winged Griffin Marbled Table Salts
About the Item
An exceptional and extremely rare Royal Worcester set of four porcelain marbled table salts supported by winged griffins dated 1863. This stunning set comprises of four small table salts each standing on a tri form base with a flat unglazed foot and slighted recessed natural glazed base supporting three seated griffins forming a stem with their extended wings supporting a round bowl-shaped salt. The griffins are tied together around their waists with a ribbon and the vase and upper bowl have been exquisitely decorated with a blue marbled finish which the griffins have been decorated in a bright contrasting coral color. Gilding has been applied around the base, to the ribbon tie and around the edges of the upper bowl. Absolutely stunning and enhanced by the characterful and grotesque griffins. Each piece has a brown printed Worcester mark to the base and is dated 63 for 1863.

In excellent original condition with very light wear associated to age and use.
