18th Century English Georgian Solid Silver Cream Ewer – London, 1759

About the Item

18th Century English Georgian Solid Silver Cream Ewer – London, 1759 A finely executed Georgian silver cream ewer, hallmarked for London, 1759. This elegant piece is crafted in sterling silver and displays richly detailed repoussé floral decoration in high relief, with scrollwork and naturalistic motifs characteristic of the mid-18th century. The ewer stands on a circular foot chased with foliate designs, rising to a lobed baluster body with a gadrooned rim and a scrolled handle of fine proportion. A cartouche to one side bears a hand-engraved period monogram. The interior retains a soft gilt wash, now gently worn with time. Fully hallmarked to the upper body with the lion passant for sterling, leopard’s head for London, and the date letter for 1759. Maker’s mark possibly worn or unstruck. A refined piece, suitable for collectors of Georgian silver or those seeking a decorative and functional object of historic charm.
