About the Item

A magnificent, refined and imposing Monteith style presentation bowl in Italian 800 silver; This magnificent, refined and impressive Monteith-style Italian silver bowl, made of 800 silver, like most of the Italian silverware art of the 20th century, has a circular shape on a circular domed foot. The large body of this 800 silver bowl is embellished with an imposing raw cut engraved coat of arms depicting a central oval coat of arms decorated with scrolls. The Monteith-style rim of this bowl is adorned with cast and rim-applied decorations accented with eight chisel-decorated figural masks above the hanging designs. The smooth domed part of the foot finished with a double edge. By virtue of its size, this versatile Monteith-style silver bowl can be used as a bottle holder or a gorgeous presentation piece. The bowl, inside, has been gilded with 24 Kt pure gold. Weight 1260 grams - 40.52 troy ounces A smooth removable crystal has also been added to this bowl to better use it as a bowl for punch, fruit salad or other. The bowls have been professionally polished and are in presentation condition. The impressive bright cut engraved coat of arms is crisp and the cast applied and chased decoration is sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the bowl are clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of italian silverware. Italian silverware, already with a centuries-old tradition, had a great development in the twentieth century and produced pieces of the highest quality that the whole world envies. Italian craftsmanship had a kind of new Renaissance after the war. A great many high-quality silverware was born where exceptional pieces were produced that now decorate the most prestigious houses.
