About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare pair of antique Edwardian English cast sterling silver pepperettes / peppers modelled in the form of owls; an addition to our collectable silver collection. These exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver peppers are realistically modelled in the form of owls/owlets. These silver pepperettes have been embellished with details reproducing the birds' plumage and anatomical features. Each of the silver owls retains the original, hallmarked push fit cover/head ornamented to the upper portion with pierced 'pepper' holes. The underside of each owl bears the engraved presentation inscription 'Samuel'. These George Gilliam silver owl peppers make a whimsical yet refined gift, ideal for collectors, owl enthusiasts or lovers of characterful silver. Perfect for curated tablescapes or display, they appeal to those who entertain with charm and individuality. Condition These antique sterling silver owl shakers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The embossed decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the body of each owl and sleeve of the covers are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these George Gilliam owl peppers in silver.
