About the Item

A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form. The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center. The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain. This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck. Condition This antique sterling silver decanter label is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the ticket are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Georgian silverware. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver combination scent bottle / pill box / vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination vinaigrette / pill box / scent bottle has an oval barrel shaped form. The body of the vessel is embellished with applied plain broad girdles replicating the details of the bilge and quarter hoops, which provide anchor points for the original link chain. The piece retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover to the scent bottle, conjoined to one of the aforementioned anchor points with a link chain. One end of the vessel is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover, which when opened reveals the vinaigrette with the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated bordered scroll and leaf design. The hallmarked hinged cover to the opposing end forms a pill box and opens to reveal the original gilt interior; this versatile box could be used for a multitude of functions.
