LUC LANEL Paris For Christofle 1930 Art Deco Silver Plated Geometric Hand-Mirror
By Christofle, Luc Lanel
Located in Miami, FL
A geometric hand mirror designed by Lucien "Luc" Lanel for Christofle. This is a beautiful hand-mirror designed in Paris France during the art deco period by Lucien "Luc" Lanel for the house of Christofle, back in the 1930. The useful hand-mirror has been crafted with sharp geometric shapes in solid silverplate with polished finish. It is a very nice piece of decorative art and is fitted with an octagonal beveled mirror. Lucien "Luc" Lanel Luc Lanel (1893-1965) was a very talented sculpture and creator. Very talented designer and ceramist had received his training at the École des arts décoratifs in Paris. He worked mainly with silver or silver-plated metals as well as bronze for the companies Süe et Mare and - as head of the galvanoplastic department - for Christofle, Paris from 1920 to 1946. As a skilled illustrator, he was also responsible for the company's advertisements. Together with the furniture designer Jules Leleu, he received various commissions for interiors and cruise ships. As early as 1928, he created various ceramics in collaboration with his wife Marjolaine Giradet. After the end of the Second World War, the couple concentrated almost exclusively on ceramic work. In addition to regular participation in the Paris Salons and other exhibitions at home and abroad, he also appeared at the Exposition Internationale des Art Décoratifs et Industriels in 1925, as well as at the 1937 Paris World's Fair. His most important creation was the “Odulations” collection and other iconic designs created for the First-Class dining room and the Grand Bar of the great ocean liner the S.S. Normandie which was considered the epitome of Art Deco Design in every way. Country: Paris, France. Period: Art-Deco, 1930. Weight: 391.8 Grams, (0.40 Kg).
