About the Item
Magnificent gilded Mezuzah case in the form of a decorative roman Doric column only more impressive. On the underside base of the column is fitted with two small columns with an attached chain and a large hemispherical half dome on a platform. surmounted by the base of the column with a stepped base with intricate foliate scrolling. Shaft is gorgeously embellished with flowing foliate motifs and the letter "Shin" in an oval cartouche.
Center column is flanked by two twisted columns tapering upward into the top the column which is harmoniously decorated as the bottom.
Resting at the top of the mezuzah case is a majestic royal crown bedecked with floral and foliate arches interspersed among the solid banded arches with a monde at its crest. Crown is backed by two columns affixed with a chain similar to its lower body.
