Pair of Art Nouveau Glass Carafes with Silver Fittings, by Ferdinand Vogl Vienna

About the Item

Two carafes made of clear glass with a conical body, a twelve-point, wavy thickened wall on the inside, decorated near the bottom with parallel cuts in a serrated shape, a bottom star, smooth silver fitting with a J-shaped, curved handle, covered beak-shaped spout, hinged straight lid with a ball as a thumb rest. Made around 1905 Dimensions: Height: 29.0 cm / 11.41 in Width: 16.5 cm / 6.49 in Depth: 12.5 cm / 4.92 in Hallmarks: Diana's Head - Viennese official hallmark 1872 - 1922 for 800 silver Master's mark 'FV' of Ferdinand Vogl, Vienna Gold- and silver goods production, business license in 1901 Bibliography: Waltraud Neuwirth, Viennese Gold - and Silversmiths and their Hallmarks 1867-1922, Lexicon L-Z, Vienna 1976, page 259 Condition: very well maintained, silver cleaned and polished, glass in best condition, slight signs of wear on the bottom edge.
