About the Item

A very fine pair of George III silver sauce boats by William & James Priest. Of plain oval form, with raised bead decoration to the rim. A flying C-scrolled handle mounted with and acanthus leaf. Standing on three shell and hoof legs. Engraved with a very ornate monogram MS to the side of each. Very clearly hallmarked for London 1768, makers mark for William & James Priest. The hallmarks are well struck and very clear with minimal rubbing (see pictures). This are a wonderful pair of sauce boats in very Fine condition with no repairs & only one tiny hole to the raised beaded rim decoration. Of a good gauge and has a wonderful colour and patina and stands true. Measures: Length 16cm or 6.5 inches Width 8cm or 3.25 inches Height (to top of handle) 12cm or 4.75 inches Individual Weights: 223g or 7.12ozT & 219g or 7.04ozT Combined Weight: 442g or 14.21ozT (15.6oz).
